Mistakes inthe DS-160
Before you submit, everything can be changed. After, you start a new form.
DS-160 Fix mistakes
The form shows a review page before the electronic signature. Use it: once the DS-160 is submitted, it cannot be edited.
Before submitting
Go back to any page from the review screen and correct the answer. Check names and passport details letter by letter against your passport, and dates against your documents.
After submitting
- Complete a new DS-160 with the correct answers; you can start from a copy of your earlier form
- If you have already booked an interview, update the confirmation number in your appointment profile on the official appointment website
- Bring the confirmation page of the new form to the interview
Answers that matter most
- Name, date of birth and passport number exactly as in the passport
- Travel history and previous visas or refusals, complete and truthful
- Employment, education and income, consistent with your documents
When to ask for help
If you are unsure whether an earlier answer was wrong, or how to explain a change, talk to us before the interview. A new form with consistent answers is better than an explanation at the window.
