Studentvisa

The F visa is for academic studies and language courses; the M visa for vocational and technical programmes.

To study in the United States you first need a place at a school approved by the US government. The school sends you a Form I-20, and that form is the basis of your visa application.

What you will need

  • Form I-20 from your school, signed by you
  • The receipt for the SEVIS fee
  • A passport valid for at least six months beyond your stay
  • The DS-160 confirmation page and the application fee receipt
  • Proof that you can pay for your studies and living costs
  • Your diplomas, transcripts and test scores

TL amounts are approximate, converted at the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) US dollar selling rate of 03.11.2026: 1 US$ = 50.00 TL. The official visa fee is paid in TL at the US consular exchange rate on the day of payment, so the amount you pay may differ.

From Türkiye, step by step

  1. Get your I-20

    Accepted by a school approved by the US government, you receive the I-20.

  2. Pay the SEVIS fee

    Online, with the details from your I-20.

  3. Complete the DS-160 and pay

    Then pay the application fee through the official channel.

  4. Book the interview

    In Ankara or Istanbul. Student visas can be issued up to a year before your programme starts.

  5. Attend the interview

    Bring your I-20, SEVIS receipt, financial papers and academic records.
